Facilities on the island

Although you may not expect it, you can enjoy gastronomic delights on the island of Ist in restaurants with a long tradition, but also eat on the go.

Groceries can be bought in the Studenac and Butiga market, and money can be withdrawn from an ATM operating during the summer. During the same period, a floating gas station* is moored on the island, in Kosirača bay.

In addition to the post office, which also offers currency exchange, there is also a clinic with a doctor* on the island. Remember that it is an island clinic and you should take your medicines with you if you use any special therapy.

Parking on the island

If you want to come to Ist by car, we advise you to buy a ferry ticket as soon as you confirm your arrival, in order to reserve your place in time. Driving on the island is allowed only just before the arrival and departure of the ferry to facilitate the loading and unloading of personal belongings. Otherwise, it is not only forbidden but almost impossible to drive by car, as there are no roads, only narrow alleys. MIST apartments cannot be reached by car, but you can unload your belongings 100 meters from the house. Although there is no official parking lot, your car will be safe if you leave it in an improvised parking lot near the ferry terminal. If you decide to leave your car in Zadar, we will be happy to show you where you can park it safely. To facilitate the transfer from the ferry port to the MIST apartments, it is possible to organize transportation by tractor for a fee to experience the island Ist authentically.

Water on the island

The island of Ist is not connected to the water supply network, but every house, including ours, has a well that collects rainwater. During the summer, water is supplied once a month from an aquifer. The water supply of the houses is connected through a common cistern (well). With regular maintenance of the well, the water is suitable for consumption, but for people who are not used to it, we recommend buying drinking water. It is very important to use water rationally to avoid water shortage.

Since the drain is solved by connecting to the personal natural septic tank, it is also important that you do not throw waste other than toilet paper into the toilet to avoid clogging.
